Current amd64 build command

Run from the source tree. These are the current development build settings; a successful release build has not yet been confirmed.

HOST_CC=/usr/bin/gcc-15 HOST_CXX=/usr/bin/g++-15 \
HOST_CFLAGS="-O -std=gnu17" \
./build.sh -U -O ../librebsd-obj -T ../librebsd-tools \
  -j12 -m amd64 release

The compiler paths must exist on the build host. Adjust the job count for the machine used.

Testing checklist

1. Confirm that the release build completes without errors.
2. Boot the image in a virtual machine.
3. Check the kernel, bootloader, and version strings.
4. Test installation onto a blank virtual disk and boot the installed system.
5. Record results and known issues before publishing an image.

A LibreBSD installation guide will be added after installation testing. Upstream NetBSD documentation is available as background reading.
